Abstract
Differences in organic permeate matter content, enzyme activity in leaves, and biomass of ten Vicia villosa varieties (strains) were compared to provide theoretical references for breeding high-biomass V. villosa varieties. The activities of catalase, peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, and nitrate reductase from high to low in the V. villosa varieties showed the following order: M9 > M8 > M3 > M4 > M5 > M6 > M7 > M1 > M2 > M10. The four enzyme activities of M10, M8, and M9 were significantly higher than those of other varieties (strains), but no significant differences were evident between M8 and M9. The soluble protein content in the leaves of M9 was significantly higher than that of M1, M2, M6, M7, and M10. The proline content in the leaves of M3, M8, and M9 was significantly higher than that of other varieties (strains). The malondialdehyde content in the leaves of M3, M4, M8, and M9 was significantly lower than that of other varieties (strains). The biomass of M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, and M9 exceeded 1963.6 g·m−2. Overall, biomass content was significantly correlated with all the indices of V. villosa. There was also significant correlation among all V. villosa indices. Osmotic molecules and enzyme activities collectively affected the biomass of V. villosa. M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, and M9 were green manure varieties (strains) with higher biomass.
