Abstract
Herbaceous Plant Breeding is a core course in the Grassland Science major; enhancing the professional knowledge reservoir and practical experimental skills in this course is important in training highly qualified professionals in the field of grassland science adaptable to the needs of the new agricultural science construction. However, in standard new agricultural science, the actual teaching of these courses faces problems such as outdated teaching content, monotonous teaching methods, and insufficient practical teaching. This knowledge system and teaching mode are insufficient to meet the needs of high-level breeding talents for developing a modern seed industry. The teaching team has reformed the content, methods, and assessment of the course by constructing an online teaching platform, enhancing textbook writing, introducing the latest research progress and technologies, and utilizing specialized breeding software, such as DeltaGen and international intelligence. Through these measures, students’ interest in plant breeding has been stimulated, their practice and innovation abilities have been enhanced, and the overall teaching quality has been improved.
