Evaluation on the impact of nongrazing on the services of typical steppe ecosystems

In order to understand the impact of nongrazing on the services of typical steppe ecosystems quantitatively, the services of typical steppes under grazing and nongrazing with different periods (2 years, 7 years and 17 years) were evaluated. The result showed that nongrazing could raise the valuation of the services of typical steppe ecosystems, such as production, carbon sequestration, oxygen release, nutrient circle. The evaluation of production of typical steppes increased as the period of nongrazing increased, and that of the typical steppes with 17 years of nongrazing was highest. The evaluation of others, such as carbon sequestration, oxygen release, nutrient circle, is highest for typical steppes with 2 years of nongrazing. Nongrazing could improve services of typical steppe ecosystems, but nongrazing for a long time is not conducive to the improvement and maintenance of services of typical steppe ecosystems.
