Study on callus induction and plant regeneration of zoysiagrass

  • In order to achieve embryogenic callus induction and plant regeneration, the sterilized mature seeds of zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica Stend.) were used as explants. The results indicated that peeled seeds after pretreatment in MS containing 2.0 mg/L 2,4D could successfully induce callus, the frequency was as high as 87.1%. In the course of subculture, there were four different types of callus. 1/2 MS containing 0.4 mg/L KT, or 1/2 MS containing 1.0 mg/L KT and 1.0 mg/L NAA was able to promote the differentiation of embryogenic callus effectively, the differentiation rate was 63.8% and 66.0%, respectively.
