Study on the physical properties of different turfbed soil formula for golf green andthe relationships with turf performance of creeping bentgrass

Abstract
Creeping bentgrass performance indexes were simplified with principal component analysis and the relationships between the physical properties of different turfbed soil formula and turf performance of creeping bentgrass were studied with canonical correlation and stepwise regression analysis. The results showed that the influence ability of components in turfbed mixture on physical properties and turf performance were peat middlecoarse sand very fine sand plus silt and clay fine sand. In the turfbed soil, the peat and middlecoarse sand mainly affected the bulk density, total porosity, capillary porosity, saturated hydraulic conductivity and all selected turf performance indexes. Very fine sand, silt, clay and peat mainly affected the airfilled porosity. And fine sand had no significant effect on any indexes. The regression equations of turfbed soil components with their physical properties and turf performance of creeping bentgrass were established with stepwise regression analysis.
