Terrestrial net primary production and its spatiotemporal patterns in Shandong Province during 2001-2010

  • Net primary productivity can reflect the carbon sequestration capacity of vegetation. The estimation of regional net primary productivity is very important for the study of regional carbon cycle and climate change. The CarnegieAmesStanford Approach (CASA) biosphere model was used to estimate annual net primary productivity from 2001 to 2010 and to analyze the spatiotemporal change for Shandong province, in this study. In the model, the land surface water index was used to replace water stress estimation module. The relationship between NPP and environmental factors were also analyzed. In Shandong province, the annual vegetation carbon sequestration capacity is about 3.461013g, in which the NPP of farmland accounting for 75%. Due to regional temperature and precipitation increasing, the average annual growth of NPP in the region is 0.71012 g from 2001 to 2010.
