A study of optimum germination conditions of Stipa bungeana seeds

Present study investigated the effect of light, temperature and their interaction on the seed germination of Stipa bungeana. The results showed that 1) S.bungeana seeds germinated within a wide range temperature from 10 ℃ to 30 ℃, with 20 ℃ as the optimal temperature, in which seed germination rates were 72% and 88% in the presence of light and absence of light, respectively; 2) Light significantly depressed seed germination of S.bungeana whatever the temperatures subjected to, moreover, seed germination was depressed strongly under suboptimal temperature compared to the optimal one.
